The Gladiator star revealed he's deliberately moving away from Sir Sean Connery's memorable portrayal of Egyptian-Spanish immortal Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, who famously spoke with a Scottish brogue despite the character's Mediterranean origins.
'I'm not doing the accent,' Crowe stated definitively about Connery's distinctive delivery. 'Sean, God rest his soul, I hope he doesn't mind, but I'm not doing the Scottish accent.'
