Robert Fox, the acclaimed British theatre and film producer known for his work on Netflix's The Crown and collaborations with David Bowie, has died at the age of 70. Fox's family confirmed his death on Tuesday, though the cause was not disclosed.
Fox produced the first two seasons of The Crown, the critically acclaimed Netflix series about Queen Elizabeth II. He also worked with David Bowie on the 1986 film Labyrinth, in which he served as a producer. His other notable credits include the films The Hours and The Iron Lady.
Born in London, Fox began his career in theatre, producing numerous West End shows. He was the brother of actor Edward Fox and uncle to actress Emilia Fox. Tributes have poured in from colleagues across the entertainment industry, praising his talent and kindness.
Fox is survived by his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, and their two children. A private funeral is planned.
