Netflix's gripping new thriller, His & Hers, has left viewers on the edge of their seats since its release on Thursday, 8th January 2026. The six-part series, starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, presents a complex murder mystery in the small Georgian town of Dahlonega, centred on the brutal killing of a young woman named Rachel, played by Jamie Tisdale.
The Initial Suspects and a Seeming Conclusion
Throughout the investigation, suspicion falls on several key figures. Detective Jack Harper, portrayed by Jon Bernthal, is revealed to have been secretly involved with the victim. Rachel's husband, Clyde (Chris Bauer), and the journalist covering the case, Anna (Tessa Thompson), also come under scrutiny as the body count rises to include Rachel's friends, Helen and Zoe.
As the finale unfolds, it appears the killer has been unmasked. The evidence convincingly points to Atlanta TV anchor Lexy Jones, whose real name is Catherine Kelly. Catherine, played by Rebecca Rittenhouse, was viciously bullied in her youth by Rachel, Helen, and Zoe. The murders seem to be acts of revenge for this past trauma. Lexy is shot and killed by Jack's police partner, Priya (Sunita Mani), seemingly bringing a grim resolution to the case.
The Devastating Final Twist
The story, however, takes one final, breathtaking turn. A year later, Anna and Jack are building a life together when Anna discovers a handwritten confession from her mother, Alice, portrayed by Crystal Fox. Alice, who had been presumed to be suffering from dementia after being found wandering naked, reveals herself as the true perpetrator.
Her motive stemmed from discovering an old video tape. The footage showed a teenage Anna being assaulted in the woods by a group of men while Rachel, Helen, Zoe watched and Catherine fled. This revelation triggered Alice, who decided to take justice into her own hands. She admits to stabbing Rachel after her secret meeting with Jack, and to murdering Helen and Zoe. She also confesses to framing Lexy by planting evidence.
A Chilling Resolution
The series ends on an intensely ambiguous note. Anna is initially horrified by her mother's admissions. Yet, in a final, silent exchange, a knowing look passes from Alice to her daughter. Anna appears to accept that these horrific acts were committed out of a twisted sense of motherly love, offering Alice a faint, complicit smile. The cycle of violence concludes not with legal justice, but with a dark, familial understanding.
His & Hers, with its layered plot and stellar performances from Thompson and Bernthal, is available to stream in full on Netflix.
