Netflix's gripping new murder mystery, His & Hers, has left viewers stunned with its final, devastating twist. The six-part series, which launched on Thursday, 8th January 2026, stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal in a tangled web of secrets and revenge set in the small Georgian town of Dahlonega.
The Grisly Crime and Initial Suspects
The story revolves around the brutal murder of a young woman named Rachel, played by Jamie Tisdale. As the investigation unfolds, Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal) and journalist Anna (Tessa Thompson) find themselves deep in a case with multiple potential killers. Suspects include Harper himself, who was secretly having an affair with Rachel, her husband Clyde (Chris Bauer), and even Anna, who is reporting on the crime. The tension escalates as two more women from Rachel's past, Helen (Poppy Liu) and Zoe (Marin Ireland), are also found murdered.
A Seemingly Clear Culprit Emerges
Midway through the finale, it appears the killer has been caught. The evidence points to Atlanta TV anchor Lexy Jones, portrayed by Rebecca Rittenhouse. Her real identity is revealed as Catherine Kelly, a woman who was viciously bullied by Rachel, Helen, and Zoe in their youth. The murders look like clear acts of revenge for a traumatic past incident. Lexy is shot and killed by Jack's police partner, Priya (Sunita Mani), seemingly closing the case.
One year later, Anna and Jack are building a life together, raising Zoe's daughter Meg (Ellie Rose Sawyer) and expecting their own child. However, this peaceful facade is shattered when Anna discovers a handwritten confession from her mother, Alice, played by Crystal Fox.
The Devastating Truth Unmasked
Alice, who had been presumed to be suffering from dementia, admits to being the real murderer. Her motive stems from discovering an old video tape belonging to Anna. The footage shows a teenage Anna (Kristen Maxwell) being assaulted in the woods by a group of men while Rachel (Isabelle Kusman), Helen (Tiffany Ho), and Zoe (Leah Merritt) watched and Catherine (Astrid Rotenberry) fled.
Consumed by a need for justice, Alice snapped. She first murdered Rachel after her secret meeting with Jack, stripping her body to confuse the police. She then killed Helen and Zoe. To cover her tracks, she meticulously planted evidence to frame Lexy/Catherine for all the crimes.
The series ends on a chilling note. Anna is initially horrified by her mother's confession. But after a knowing look from Alice, who implies she acted out of twisted maternal love, Anna offers a faint, complicit smile, leaving the audience to ponder the moral abyss they now share.
