Black Ops Series 2: Start Time, Cast & Episodes

The highly anticipated second series of the BBC's multi-award-winning comedy thriller, Black Ops, is finally here. Fans can mark their calendars for Thursday, January 8, when the espionage escapades return to screens.

When And Where To Watch The New Series

The adventure begins on BBC One at 9:30pm on Thursday, January 8. For those who prefer to binge or catch up later, all episodes will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from the same time. The series will continue in this weekly primetime slot.

This new chapter finds our unlikely heroes, Dom and Kay, attempting to navigate a more conventional life. Having traded their criminal exploits for the security of the state, they are now MI5 desk agents. As the synopsis for the opening episode reveals, the transition is far from smooth. Dom's ambition chafes against the mundane reality of archive work, while Kay yearns for the community connection of his old job as a PCSO.

A Star-Studded Cast Returns With New Faces

Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun seamlessly slip back into their roles as the dynamic duo, Dom and Kay. They are joined once more by Akemnji Ndifornyen as the formidable gang boss, Tevin.

The new series elevates the stakes with an impressive line-up of guest stars. Viewers can look forward to appearances from Tom Stourton (known for Barbie and Poor Things), veteran actor Nigel Havers (Chariots of Fire), and Annette Badland (Heartstopper, Ted Lasso). The cast is further bolstered by Ed Speleers (Star Trek: Picard) and Cathy Tyson (Help).

Bigger, Louder, And Crazier Carnival Espionage

The predictable rhythm of paperwork is shattered when Dom encounters a charismatic spy named Steve. He pulls the pair from their desks and into the thrilling, high-stakes world of classified field operations. This plunge into active espionage tests their intelligence, their friendship, and their unique carnival-loving spirit like never before.

Gbemisola Ikumelo, who co-created, writes, and stars in the show, has promised a spectacular follow-up. "It's going to be a bigger, louder, crazier show," she said. "I'm actually quite shocked about the things we've been able to achieve in this series, so I'm looking forward to seeing how audiences respond."

Audiences have plenty to look forward to, with eight episodes in total, each running for 30 minutes. Prepare for a chaotic, hilarious, and action-packed ride as Dom and Kay discover that even within MI5, the most dangerous missions often come from stepping outside the filing cabinet.
