What to Expect in Series 2
The new series will follow Amanda as she continues to navigate life in "SoHa" (South Harlesden), juggling teenage children, her online Senuous brand, and her role at Kitchen's Bathrooms and Kitchens. A teaser clip shows Amanda receiving dating advice from her mother, hinting at romantic entanglements ahead.
According to the BBC, the series explores themes of downsizing, modern teens, and the challenges of single motherhood, with Amanda relying on her new circle of school parent friends and her former ally Anne, played by Philippa Dunne.
Fan Reactions
Fans have expressed excitement on social media, with comments such as "Can't wait! So excited this is coming back!" and "These two were made to play mother and daughter." One viewer described the show as "gold."
Background and Success
Amandaland launched in 2025 and quickly became a ratings hit, with a Christmas special drawing massive audiences. BBC chief content officer Kate Phillips praised the show, stating: "It's remarkable to think that Amanda's move to SoHa only happened last year and yet in such a short space of time it has become the mother of all comedies."
The original series Motherland, starring Anna Maxwell Martin, ran for three series and concluded with a Christmas special in 2022.
Amandaland series 2 starts on May 6. Series 1 is available on BBC iPlayer.
