Amanda Seyfried Fans Worried as She Appears Close to Tears at Met Gala
Amanda Seyfried Near Tears at Met Gala, Fans Concerned

Amanda Seyfried has left fans concerned as she appeared close to tears on the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday night. The Housemaid actress, 40, looked visibly emotional at fashion's biggest annual event while chatting with reporters about a possible Mamma Mia three movie.

She said: 'It was an iconic time for all of us to have something just work so well, for people and still working to this day. I can't wait to get back.' However, fans were worried for the American star, who skipped the event last year, as she seemed on the verge of tears. They wrote: 'Is she crying?; Why is she crying?; Why are her eyes so glossy?'

Despite the emotional moment, Amanda stunned in a custom-made Prada princess gown, accessorised with eye-catching Tiffany & Co jewelry. Her strapless pink number featured a figure-hugging bodice with a drop waist and a billowing skirt with thick ruffles. As she ascended the iconic Met steps, her train cascaded behind her, and she styled her long blonde tresses in a sleek waved updo.

The actress was joined on the red carpet by celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, and Hailey Bieber. The theme of this year's event, widely considered the Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets, was Costume Art, with the dress code being Fashion is Art.

This year's gala was marred by controversy over Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 62, and his wife Lauren Sanchez, 56, sponsoring the event. The couple reportedly donated $10 million to the Costume Institute in exchange for being named honorary co-chairs. Daily Mail has reached out to Amanda's representatives for comment.

It comes after Amanda insisted that winning an Oscar 'isn't important,' declaring 'do you know who won in the last 10 years?' after being 'robbed' of the Golden Globe. The Mean Girls star received a best supporting actress nomination at the Academy Awards in 2021 for her role in Mank. She also scored nods at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards this year for The Testament of Ann Lee, hinting at a possible Oscar nomination.

But Amanda has now insisted she doesn't need the accolade to sustain a successful career. Speaking to The New Yorker, she said it's actually the Oscar nomination that 'thrusts you forward,' asking: 'Do you remember who won in the past ten years?' She added: 'Now, do I need one in a week or two or whenever? No, of course, I don't. Would it be great? Of course it would, for every reason - but it isn't necessary.'

Amanda previously raised eyebrows at the Golden Globes in January when she lost out on two Best Actress gongs, looking bored as the awards were announced. She appeared visibly disappointed when she lost the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture to Rose Byrne. In a viral clip, the Emmy-winning star, nominated for The Testament Of Ann Lee, was caught grimacing briefly before forcing a smile and clapping. Fans have since claimed she behaved this way because she 'knew she wasn't about to win,' adding that the actress was 'robbed' of the accolades.
