Prince William is reportedly blocking any potential return of Prince Harry to the royal fold in order to protect his wife, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, according to royal commentator Helena Chard. Speaking to Fox News, Chard said William is 'hugely protective' of Catherine and will not allow anything to interfere with her recuperation from recent abdominal surgery.
Chard added that William has his 'own private turmoil' following his wife's surgery and his father King Charles's cancer diagnosis. She stated that he does not trust his younger brother and will not allow him to 'breeze back into the family'. A source close to William reportedly said there is 'no chance' he would permit Harry's return, calling it a 'zero per cent' possibility.
Harry, who stepped down as a senior royal in 2020 and now lives in California with his wife Meghan Markle, was said to be willing to take on a temporary royal role while his father is unwell. However, a source claimed William made it 'absolutely and categorically clear' that he would not allow this, adding that if anyone takes on more duties, it will be William himself.
The royal commentator suggested that Harry's interest in associating with the Royal Family is self-serving, as it represents 'continuity, stability and pride'. She argued that Harry must 'redeem himself' for true reconciliation. The claims follow reports of warm exchanges between Harry and King Charles during a recent visit, but a return to official duties appears unlikely given William's stance.
