Kelvin Fletcher: Family Farm Life Is 'We Just Survive'

Kelvin Fletcher Reveals Chaotic Reality of Family Farm Life

Kelvin Fletcher has made a candid admission about his family life with wife Liz, confessing that they are often just trying to survive the daily chaos of running a farm and raising four children. The revelation came during a repeat episode of ITV's Fletcher's Family Farm, which aired on Sunday, offering viewers a glimpse into the couple's early struggles on their Cheshire farm.

'We Are Always That Family That Is Always Late'

In one segment, Kelvin and Liz opened up about the disorganisation they faced when first starting out, particularly while preparing for their inaugural farm event. The couple bickered openly, with Kelvin admitting, "We just survive." He reflected on the hectic mornings, saying, "Any parent will be able to relate to this, we are always that family that is always late. Once in a blue moon, we will be on time."

Kelvin detailed his own rushed routine, noting, "I have not even brushed my teeth this morning, I have not had a shower, I've not done anything. It will get to midday, and I'll realise, I haven't eaten breakfast, I haven't done this, I haven't done that, but that is the nature of the beast." Despite the madness, he expressed hope for calmer days ahead, telling Liz, "There will be a time when it's a bit more settled, and it'll be easier."

Disagreements and Heartbreak on the Farm

The episode also highlighted tensions between the couple, as they disagreed over planning for the farm event. Kelvin confessed they "don't always see eye to eye," exemplified by a moment where he criticised Liz's minimal decorations for a large trail. However, Liz laughed off the criticism, showing their ability to navigate conflicts with humour.

In a more sombre scene, the Fletchers faced a heartbreaking moment when one of their sheep struggled during lambing. The first lamb tragically died, forcing them to intervene to save the second. Kelvin described the loss as "heartbreaking," while Liz emotionally remarked, "It is just really sad to see them like that, all floppy and....it's horrible." Kelvin questioned their timing, pondering if earlier action could have changed the outcome, highlighting the delicate balance in farming between intervention and letting nature take its course.

A Beautiful Chaos

Despite the challenges, Kelvin emphasised the beauty in their chaotic life. He said, "I don't know, it's all a blur. It will be one of them where we don't know how we did it, we just survive it. Yes, it's crazy, yes it's chaotic, but it's beautiful." This sentiment captures the essence of their journey, blending the hardships of farming with the joys of family.

Fletcher's Family Farm is available to stream on ITVX, offering further insights into the Fletchers' adventures in agriculture and parenthood.
