Tara Reid's Drink Spiking Probe Closed: Police Cite Lack of Evidence
Tara Reid drink spiking case closed by police

Actress Tara Reid has described the last few weeks as 'devastating' after police concluded their investigation into her claim that her drink was spiked at an Illinois hotel. The Rosemont police department has closed the case, stating there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

A Heartbreaking Ordeal and Public Scrutiny

In an exclusive interview, the 50-year-old American Pie star told of the immense personal toll the incident and subsequent public speculation has taken. 'It was a truly heartbreaking experience,' Reid stated. She claims to have been subjected to relentless bullying and misinformation since the event came to light.

'All of the bullying I have been subjected to since and everyone twisting reality without the facts they weren't even there to witness is truly affecting my mental health and I need it to stop,' she told the Daily Mail.

Questions Over CCTV and Hospital Procedure

Reid revealed that CCTV footage from the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at Chicago O'Hare airport last month does not account for her whereabouts for approximately 33 minutes. She asserts the footage shows her in a coherent state before an abrupt change.

'After reviewing the footage I only had consumed two glasses of wine the entire time... and I came back in a completely different state of mind. And it is an undeniable difference,' she explained. Reid also expressed dismay that the Resurrection Medical Center did not administer blood or alcohol tests, and she has no memory of reportedly screaming and falling from her hospital bed.

Witness Account and Case Status

A potential witness, flight attendant and nurse Kathy Lain, has provided a statement describing seeing Reid appearing 'almost out of it' and interacting with a man at the hotel bar. Despite the case closure, police have indicated to Reid that they would follow up on any new evidence.

A Rosemont police officer told her: '...at this point, I don't want to make it sound like we don't think anything happened. From everything that we've seen... there's no evidence to support anything for us to charge somebody at this time.'

Reid concluded by urging public awareness, stating: 'Please everyone, watch your drinks be aware of your surroundings and if you feel you have been drugged, do not be afraid to speak out.' She thanked her supporters for helping her through this 'trying time'.
