Former S Club 7 member Jon Lee has bravely opened up about his harrowing battle with crystal meth addiction, revealing how he spiralled into substance abuse after the band's split.
In a candid interview, the 41-year-old singer admitted he "hit rock bottom" during his darkest days, struggling to cope with the pressures of fame and the abrupt end of the group that made him a household name.
The Downward Spiral
Lee confessed that his addiction began when he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting after S Club 7 disbanded in 2003. "I was lost, confused, and looking for an escape," he revealed.
The performer described how casual drug use escalated into a full-blown addiction:
- Started with recreational use at parties
- Gradually became dependent on crystal meth
- Began missing auditions and opportunities
- Isolated himself from friends and family
Road to Recovery
After years of struggle, Lee finally sought help through rehabilitation. "It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the most important," he shared.
The West End star credits his recovery to:
- Professional treatment programs
- Support from loved ones
- Returning to his passion for performing
- Developing healthier coping mechanisms
Life After Addiction
Now sober for several years, Lee has rebuilt his career in musical theatre, starring in productions like "Jersey Boys" and "Les Misérables". He hopes his story will inspire others battling addiction to seek help.
"I'm proof that it's possible to come out the other side," Lee said. "If my experience can help even one person, sharing it will have been worth it."
