Couple Banned for Life After Mile-High Club Attempt Before Takeoff

A couple in their 50s have been banned for life by Jet2 after they were caught attempting to join the mile-high club before their flight even took off. The incident occurred on a Jet2 flight from East Midlands Airport to Gran Canaria, where fellow passengers witnessed the pair engaging in amorous activities in their seats during takeoff.

Caught in the Act

Darren Street, 51, and his wife Lisa, 47, accidentally filmed the couple in the act while recording the plane on the runway for takeoff. They observed vigorous movement in the man's jogging bottoms, leading them to alert the cabin crew out of concern for children present on the flight. Mr Street, a garage owner, told The Sun that he and his wife were shocked and disgusted by the behaviour.

Claims of Innocence Dismissed

The couple claimed they were merely praying, explaining it was their first time on a plane. However, their pleas were rubbished by surrounding passengers. Mr Street remarked, They must have thought it was the stewardess's first day on earth, we all knew what they were doing. The crew considered turning the flight around to return to East Midlands Airport but ultimately continued to Gran Canaria.

Severe Consequences

In response to the appalling behaviour, Jet2 took swift action:

  • The couple were banned for life from the airline.
  • They were kicked out of their Jet2 hotel in Gran Canaria.
  • They were removed from their return flight home.

A Jet2 spokesperson stated, As a family-friendly airline and holiday company, we take a zero-tolerance approach to appalling behaviour such as this. The incident made the flight really awkward for the Streets, as the couple would not stop staring at them for the remainder of the four-and-a-half-hour journey.
