Slash's Iconic Guitar Leads High-Value Music Memorabilia Auction in London
An exclusive auction featuring rare music memorabilia, including a guitar used by Guns N' Roses legend Slash, is set to take place in London this April. The event, hosted by Propstore auction house, is expected to draw significant attention from collectors worldwide, with items spanning genres and decades.
Slash's Gibson Les Paul Custom '59 Expected to Fetch Up to £300,000
The highlight of the auction is a Gibson Les Paul Custom '59 guitar, played by Slash during the band's Not In This Lifetime Tour in 2016. This tour marked a historic reunion with bandmates Axl Rose and Duff McKagan after over two decades apart. The guitar has been photo-matched and signed by Slash himself, with an estimated sale price ranging from £150,000 to £300,000.
Rare Items from Queen, The Beatles, and George Michael Up for Sale
Beyond Slash's guitar, the auction will feature a diverse collection of music memorabilia. A black La Rocka leather jacket worn by the late George Michael, both on tour and in the "Faith" music video, is expected to sell for between £60,000 and £120,000. Additionally, items from Peter Hince, Queen's former head roadie, include a gold microphone presented to Freddie Mercury in 1980, valued at £30,000 to £60,000.
Beatles enthusiasts will have the chance to bid on a promotional poster for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Double Fantasy album, signed by Lennon hours before his death, and an original manuscript of the lyrics to "Goodbye," handwritten by Sir Paul McCartney in 1969. Both pieces could yield over £100,000 each.
Wide Range of Collectibles with Combined Estimate of £1.5 Million
The auction will also include a cropped Fred Perry trench coat from Amy Winehouse's personal collection and an autographed jacket worn by Ed Sheeran in his "Shape of You" music video. In total, the event offers more than 400 lots for global bidding, with a pre-combined sale estimate of £1.5 million.
Mark Hochman, a music specialist at Propstore, commented on the significance of the sale, stating, "The sale spans genres, generations, and defining cultural moments. Each lot offers collectors a tangible connection to the artists and performances that helped shape the soundtrack of our lives." Peter Hince added, "I am pleased these items can now be shared with fans and collectors who appreciate what they represent in Queen's story."
