Timothée Chalamet Hails Susan Boyle a 'Greatest Living Brit', Gifts Coveted Jacket
Chalamet Gifts Susan Boyle 'Marty Supreme' Jacket

In a heartwarming crossover between Hollywood and British pop culture, singing sensation Susan Boyle has received a special gift from actor Timothée Chalamet, after he publicly declared her one of the nation's true greats.

A Surprise Tribute From Hollywood

The two-time Oscar nominee, 29, surprised many during the UK promotional tour for his new film, Marty Supreme, by expressing his deep admiration for the iconic Britain's Got Talent finalist. As part of the film's campaign, Chalamet has been sending a jacket inspired by the movie to celebrities he considers legends. The exclusive list already included NFL icon Tom Brady, singer Justin Bieber, and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner.

Now, Susan Boyle, 64, has joined that elite group. The gesture came after Chalamet, in a BBC interview last week, named her as one of the British stars worthy of the garment. When asked which UK icons he would honour, he listed figures like Lewis Hamilton and the Beckhams before his final, more unexpected choice: Susan Boyle.

'She Dreamt Bigger Than All Of Us'

Faced with laughter from the interviewer, Chalamet doubled down on his selection. With a straight face, he stated, 'She dreamt big. She dreamt bigger than all of us.' He reflected on her unforgettable 2009 audition, saying, 'Who wasn't moved by that [story]? I remember that like it was yesterday. That was like the advent of YouTube, you know?'

Upon receiving the Marty Supreme jacket, Boyle told the BBC: 'Thanks so much for the kind words once again Timothée. All the very best for the film, looking forward to seeing it on Boxing Day and thanks for the jacket, it fits like a glove!'

Boyle's Grateful Response and Comeback Journey

The Scottish singer from Blackburn, West Lothian, responded with a gushing Instagram post. Alongside a screenshot of the interview, she wrote: 'This has been so incredibly touching to read. I’m very flattered... Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me.'

She added a message of encouragement: 'We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big!'

This touching exchange comes as Boyle prepares for a return to music after six years away. Her journey back has been carefully managed following a stroke in 2022 that affected her ability to speak and sing. Having also been at high risk during the pandemic due to diabetes, her team has prioritised her health.

It has been 16 years since Boyle was catapulted to global fame on Britain's Got Talent. Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, became the world's best-selling album of 2009. She made UK chart history by having three successive albums debut at number one in under two years, and has sold an impressive 25 million records worldwide to date.
