Romeo Beckham Channels Father David's Iconic Style at Milan Fashion Week

Romeo Beckham took a sartorial cue from his famously fashion-conscious father, David Beckham, on Friday while attending a prestigious Gucci catwalk presentation during Milan Fashion Week. The 23-year-old model, seated in the front row at Palazzo Delle Scintille, conjured images of David in his mid-2000s prime as the Italian fashion house previewed its latest fall-winter womenswear collection.

A Fashionable Front Row Gathering

Opting for a collarless white jacket, vest, and lightweight, loose-fitting trousers, Romeo appeared to be a true chip off the old block. He rubbed shoulders with notable guests including Canadian singer Shawn Mendes and celebrated designer Donatella Versace. This appearance came just four days after Romeo made his own catwalk appearance for British heritage brand Burberry at London Fashion Week, showcasing his growing presence in the fashion world.

The event was a star-studded affair, with Kate Moss, Demi Moore, and Emily Ratajkowski among those walking for Gucci in Milan's Piazza Sei Febbraio. Catwalk veteran Moss, 52, ensured all eyes were on her as she hit the runway in a daring backless dress that plunged so low it revealed her thong. The supermodel, who went braless in the garment, gave onlookers a glimpse of her incredible figure while sauntering up and down the catwalk.

Gucci's Cult Fashion Items and Celebrity Styles

Gucci's branded thong has become a cult fashion item, previously worn by celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Kim Kardashian. It first appeared on the runway as part of Tom Ford's Spring/Summer 1997 collection for Gucci and is actually part of a bikini set. Elsewhere, Hollywood star Demi Moore, 63, debuted a wavy bob hairstyle that accentuated her chiseled cheekbones.

The mother-of-three opted for an all-black ensemble at the fashion show, pairing a fitted jacket with flared skintight trousers and heels. As has become tradition, Moore was joined by her micro Chihuahua Pilaf, whom she cradled while posing for photographs. The actress and her pet settled into the front row to watch the models, including Ratajkowski, who dazzled in an eye-catching skintight glittering silver dress that showed off her tanned and toned legs and ample cleavage.

The Beckham Family's Long History with Gucci

The Beckham family has a long, colourful, and occasionally questionable history with Gucci, most notably David and Victoria's decision to wear matching leather outfits from the brand while attending a Versace event in 1999. Reflecting on the divisive look during an appearance on US show Watch What Happens Live in 2022, Victoria said: 'I mean it haunts me. It does haunt me, but I love it. It was hot. We were wearing Gucci. It was a Versace dinner, which is inappropriate in itself. But, you know, we really considered those outfits.'

In December 2022, speaking in Vogue Visionaries, Victoria fondly reminisced about the look: 'Myself and David turning up to a Versace event in matching Gucci leather […] wearing the wrong designer, but you know, owning it. Listen, everyone wants to show me them [the images], and everyone wants to know what I think of them. Back then, I didn’t know any better. I didn’t know the fashion industry. So there was something so sweet and naive about the fact I didn’t care. I just expressed myself in that way.'

Matching outfits were certainly not a one-time occurrence for the couple, as they also coordinated at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles in 2003, both opting for matching white ensembles. This enduring fashion legacy continues with Romeo, who is carving his own path while honoring his father's iconic style at major fashion events worldwide.
