Jeremy Clarkson Sells Lamborghini Tractor to Avoid Financial Hit

Jeremy Clarkson has bid farewell to a beloved fixture of Diddly Squat Farm, selling his iconic green Lamborghini tractor at auction in the latest series of Clarkson's Farm. The move was driven by a desire to avoid a significant financial hit, reports the Mirror.

Why the Tractor Was Sold

In season five of the Amazon Prime series, Clarkson decided to part with the Lamborghini tractor after it had been sitting idle. The acquisition of the AgBot, a fully autonomous, unmanned tractor, meant the 2016 Deutz-Fahr Lamborghini was no longer needed. The AgBot took over ploughing and seeding duties, allowing Clarkson and farm manager Kaleb Cooper to monitor its activity remotely.

Clarkson explained in a voiceover: "The green Lambo hadn't turned a wheel in weeks, so I decided to sell it, which meant getting it valued by an agricultural auctioneer."

The Valuation

Agricultural auctioneer Oliver Godfrey assessed the tractor, delivering a valuation that left Clarkson disappointed. Godfrey estimated it would fetch between £50,000 and £60,000, a figure significantly lower than the £80,000 Clarkson had originally paid. Clarkson admitted the valuation was "quite a lot less" than his initial investment.

The Auction

On auction day, Clarkson expressed little optimism, remarking: "Here it is. There's going to be a frenzy of bidding..." However, bidding gained momentum as buyers submitted offers for the modified tractor, adorned with Lamborghini emblems. As the price climbed, Clarkson noted: "We are actually getting closer to the £80,000 that I had paid for it."

Ultimately, the tractor sold for £70,500, a result that surprised and relieved both Clarkson and Cooper. Clarkson said: "Well, it was a financial hit, but it wasn't a financial kick in the nuts."

Season Five Finale

The auction takes place ahead of the season five finale, which airs tomorrow on Prime Video. The final two episodes, titled Sickening and Reaping, focus on a TB outbreak and the harvest at Diddly Squat Farm.
