The Prince and Princess of Wales have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary with a surprise visit to IntoUniversity, an education charity that benefited from their Royal Wedding Gift Fund in 2011. William and Kate joined Year 5 students from Victory Primary School at the charity's Walworth site, taking part in a workshop focused on astronomy and team-based challenges.
IntoUniversity, which aims to help disadvantaged young people reach their full potential, was one of 26 charities chosen to receive donations from the Gift Fund. The fund raised over £1 million for causes close to the royal couple's hearts, allowing well-wishers to donate instead of giving wedding gifts.
Rachel Carr, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of IntoUniversity, said: 'Fifteen years ago, Their Royal Highnesses’ Royal Wedding Gift Fund provided generous support at a crucial moment for IntoUniversity. It not only helped us to continue our work, but also gave us the confidence to grow.'
After the visit, the couple reportedly had lunch at The Goring hotel in London, where Kate stayed the night before their wedding. They also shared a new family photo on social media, taken during an Easter holiday in Cornwall, showing them lying in the grass with their children and pet dogs.
William and Kate first met over 20 years ago at the University of St Andrews and married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Their wedding day was marked by a famous kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
