Vogue Williams on I'm A Celeb: Why She Joined the 'Sadistic Retreat'
Vogue Williams reveals real reason for I'm A Celeb stint

Model and television personality Vogue Williams has revealed the surprising reasons behind her decision to join the cast of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! while describing the Australian jungle experience as a 'sadistic retreat'.

Embracing the Jungle Challenge

The 40-year-old entered the camp as a late arrival alongside Tom Read Wilson from Celebs Go Dating, with both immediately being appointed as camp leaders. This powerful position required them to delegate chores to their fellow celebrities, though Vogue admitted she and Tom struggled with the responsibility and felt 'lazy' watching others work.

Before heading to Australia, Vogue explained her motivation to The Sun: "Everyone who leaves that jungle loves it. They're like: 'That was such an amazing life experience.' It's a really sadistic retreat! I'm also at a time in my life where it's OK to do it with the kids being the ages they are."

Confronting Fears in Camp Fright

Vogue faced one of her most terrifying moments during a recent trial at Camp Fright, where she joined campmates Alex, Shona, and Tom in a gruesome task to win meals for the camp. The challenge proved particularly harrowing when Vogue found herself in a tent with fifteen snakes.

While Tom remained remarkably calm, even singing to the reptiles and joking that "one of you might be up my shorts!", Vogue panicked, screaming "Oh my God, I don't like them, I don't like them!"

Despite this snake-filled ordeal, Vogue had previously identified other creatures as her primary fears. "I don't choose to spend my time with insects. I don't like fish, crabs, lobsters or crocodiles," she confessed, though she added that heights don't bother her and she possesses a 'stomach of steel' for eating challenges.

Life Beyond the Jungle

Vogue's husband, Spencer Matthews, won't be waiting at the famous bridge when she eventually leaves the jungle as he's undertaking Project Se7en - completing seven triathlons across seven continents in just 21 days. However, he's been vocal in his support through social media.

In a touching post, Spencer wrote: "It's wild how much you can miss someone you've spoken to every single day for years. This is the longest we've gone without talking since we've been married, and I feel it more than I ever expected."

The couple, who married in 2018 after meeting on Channel 4's The Jump in 2017, share three children - Theodore (7), Gigi (5), and Otto (3) - and reside in Battersea, southwest London.

Vogue's jungle adventure represents a conscious decision to push her boundaries, as she explained: "But mainly, it's about getting to 40, being too comfortable and not wanting to feel like that... I want to push myself and my boundaries. I feel like I've got too comfy in my own life, on my throne of pillows - I sleep with three, it's too many!"
