Vogue Williams on Divorce Shame & Finding Love with Spencer Matthews
Vogue Williams' Divorce Shame & New Love Story

Irish media personality Vogue Williams has candidly discussed the profound feelings of embarrassment she experienced following her divorce from Westlife singer Brian McFadden, before finding happiness with Spencer Matthews.

The Pain of a Public Split

Williams, now 40, married pop star Brian McFadden back in 2012, but the couple separated after just three years together. Their divorce was formally concluded in 2017, a period Vogue has previously admitted left her grappling with significant anxiety.

Speaking on her YouTube series, 'Vogue Williams - What Does She Even Do?', the mother-of-three revealed she had always imagined her life would look very different by the age of 30. "I had it in my mind that I would be married with kids when I was 30," she confessed.

Reflecting on the emotional fallout, she stated: "I felt really embarrassed at the start, of the whole failure of getting divorced, but you have to say yes to things and when you feel really down, or sad, break-ups are the hardest thing in the world, I think." She likened the experience to a bereavement, noting how all-consuming it can be, but emphasised the importance of pushing forward.

An Unexpected Romance on The Jump

Following the finalisation of her divorce, Vogue's life took a new turn while filming for the Channel 4 sports competition show 'The Jump' in 2017. It was there she met former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews.

Despite initial resistance from both parties, a romance blossomed. "Spenny and I tried not to be with each other, we tried," Vogue admitted. She explained that having just emerged from a long-term relationship, she was enjoying her newfound freedom and wasn't looking for anything serious.

"I didn’t want to be with anybody but we kept falling back into each other," she said. "As much as we tried not to be together, we kept coming back together, so that’s how I knew [he was the one] in the end." She added that friends had encouraged the match, describing Spencer simply as "good craic".

A Decade of Love and Future Plans

The couple's relationship moved quickly. Spencer proposed during a trip to see The Lion King in London's West End in January 2018. Just five months later, they married in an intimate ceremony at the Matthews family estate, Glen Affric, in the Scottish Highlands.

This was followed by a second, televised wedding for a Channel 4 documentary titled 'Spencer, Vogue and Wedding Two'. The pair now share three children: Theodore, Gigi, and Otto.

In a charming twist, Vogue has revealed plans for a third wedding to mark their 10th anniversary in 2028. Discussing it on the My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast with friend Joanne McNally, she clarified that neither of their previous ceremonies felt like a definitive 'real wedding' to them.

"We actually want to do a wedding in three years' time when we’re married for 10 years," she said. "No one will bloody believe it, imagine being married to someone for 10 years." This planned celebration underscores the lasting partnership that emerged from a period of personal and public difficulty.
