British grime artist Stormzy has shared heartbreaking news with his followers, announcing the death of his beloved protection dog, Enzo.
The musician took to Instagram to post a emotional tribute to his Rottweiler, who passed away seven years after Stormzy originally purchased him.
A Devastating Loss
In his social media post, Stormzy described himself as "gutted and heartbroken" by the loss of his canine companion. He shared multiple photos and video clips documenting their time together, captioning the tribute: "RIP my no.1 boy. Don't have much to say, just gutted and heartbroken."
The rapper continued with a heartfelt message: "I love you so so so much my boy. If you know me then you know how much Enz meant to me, gonna miss you my guy." Stormzy disabled comments on the post, though fans still expressed their condolences by resharing his tribute and leaving supportive messages on their own profiles.
Enzo's Protective Role
Stormzy originally acquired Enzo back in 2018 while he was in a relationship with television presenter Maya Jama. The trained protection dog came with a substantial price tag of £15,000.
The grime star turned to security specialists Chaperone K9 for additional protection following three separate stabbing incidents that occurred before he found fame. The same company has also supplied protection dogs to other high-profile figures including West Ham striker Andy Carroll and Manchester United defender Phil Jones.
Relationship History
Stormzy and Maya Jama's romantic journey has seen several chapters. The couple first fell in love in 2014, initially separating in 2019 before briefly rekindling their relationship. They ultimately announced their final separation in 2024 through a joint statement.
Despite their breakup, both have emphasised they remain on good terms. Maya previously noted that they're "still friends and will always be friends," even joking that people shouldn't "cause a fuss" if they're spotted together at public events like The Brit Awards.
