Slash's Iconic Tour Guitar Headlines Major Music Memorabilia Auction in London
A legendary Gibson Les Paul guitar, famously played by Slash during Guns N' Roses' monumental Not In This Lifetime reunion tour, is poised to fetch up to £300,000 at a high-profile music memorabilia auction in London next month. The instrument, which is photo-matched, stage-used, and autographed, represents a pivotal moment in rock history, marking the first time Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan performed together since 1993.
Star-Studded Auction Collection Features Music Legends
The Music Memorabilia Live Auction collection, hosted by Propstore auction house in London, will take place on April 30, offering over 400 lots with a combined pre-sale estimate of £1.5 million. Alongside Slash's guitar, estimated at £150,000 to £300,000, the sale includes:
- A jacket worn by the late George Michael in his 1987 Faith music video and on his 1998 tour, expected to sell for £60,000 to £120,000.
- A gold microphone used by Freddie Mercury of Queen, with an estimate of £30,000 to £60,000, from the collection of the band's head roadie, Peter Hince.
- An autographed promotional poster for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Double Fantasy, signed hours before Lennon's death in 1980, valued at £60,000 to £120,000.
- Handwritten lyrics to Goodbye by Sir Paul McCartney from 1969, estimated at £55,000 to £110,000.
Modern Memorabilia and Collector Appeal
The auction also features items from contemporary artists, including a Fred Perry trench coat belonging to the late Amy Winehouse (£4,000 to £8,000) and an autographed jacket worn by Ed Sheeran in his Shape Of You music video (£3,500 to £7,000). Mark Hochman, Propstore music specialist, emphasised the collection's breadth, noting it spans genres and generations, offering fans a tangible connection to iconic performances.
With worldwide bidding available, this event highlights the enduring value of music history, bringing together pieces from legends like The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix to modern stars such as Little Mix, all under one roof in London's vibrant auction scene.
