Grammy-nominated artist Post Malone has officially resolved the legal dispute with his former fiancée, Hee Sung 'Jamie' Park, concerning the custody of their three-year-old daughter, known by the initials 'DDP'. The settlement was finalised in Los Angeles Superior Court, bringing an end to the confidential proceedings.
Confidential Agreement Reached
The 30-year-old singer and rapper, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, and the Korean influencer, who parted ways a year ago, have come to a private agreement. The terms, which cover custody arrangements, visitation rights, child support, and health insurance, have been placed under seal, meaning the specific details will not be made public. This information was first reported by the outlet TMZ.
The resolution follows a period of legal manoeuvring. Park, a content creator with a significant social media following, relocated to Los Angeles at the start of the year. Meanwhile, Malone resides in a substantial $3 million, five-bedroom compound spanning 12,000 square feet in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Legal Battle and Diverging Arguments
In April, Park initiated legal action to have the case moved to California, a jurisdiction known for potentially higher child support awards. In her filing, she sought primary physical custody of their daughter, joint legal custody, and visitation rights for the 18-time Grammy nominee. She also requested that Malone cover her legal fees.
In response, Malone's renowned attorney, Laura Wasser, argued against moving the case. She contended that the child had established deep roots in Utah, pointing to the presence of a nanny, a paediatrician, and a well-established routine that included music, gym, and swimming classes.
Post Malone on Fatherhood
In a candid August interview with GQ, the 'Just in Case' singer opened up about the joys and challenges of being a dad. "Kids are little s***s and they're beautiful at the same time," he shared. "And... Well, being a dad, I take it a day at a time. I think it's important that way. We're learning every day. I don't know what the hell I'm doing, and neither does she. She's just figuring it out."
He fondly recounted their playful interactions, stating, "She goes, 'I love you.' I say, 'How much?' She goes, 'A little.' I go, 'Oh, you little s***.' And then she calls me a little s***, too. It's pretty funny. She's f***ing hilarious. It's unstoppable. She's just the most beautiful creature to ever have existed on this earth." Malone also hinted at a desire to slow down his touring schedule, noting, "You know I've been on the road for 10 years... After 10 years, it's time to just take it easy. And this is where you want to be."
Meanwhile, Park appeared to make a statement on social media on September 22, lip-synching to a variation of a famous Cher quote: "My mom said to me, 'Find someone who can give you everything.' And I said, 'Mom, I already have everything. I am a rich man.'"
Looking Forward
Since his split from Park, Post Malone has been linked to Russian influencer Diana Korkunova, with whom he was pictured in Milan in late August. Professionally, his next major engagement is headlining The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Kickoff halftime concert on November 27. The performance will air live on CBS during the NFL game between his favourite team, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The artist, who has sold over 150 million records and boasts 61.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify, expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram, writing, "Honoured to be part of the @dallascowboys @salvationarmyus Red Kettle Kickoff halftime show. See y'all on Thanksgiving!"
