Olympic champion Adam Peaty and his fiancée, Holly Ramsay, have deliberately avoided a high-profile family holiday, choosing to skip the Ramsay clan's annual trip to the Las Vegas Grand Prix. This conspicuous absence comes amid an increasingly public and bitter feud between Peaty and his own family.
A Noteworthy No-Show
The couple were notably missing from the glamorous Formula 1 event in Sin City over the weekend, despite Holly, a known F1 fan, having attended the same race with her father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, just last year. Their decision to steer clear of the lavish trip is widely seen as an attempt to sidestep further drama and media scrutiny surrounding their upcoming wedding and the falling out with Peaty's mother and brother.
Peaty Breaks His Silence
The avoidance of the family holiday follows a significant move from the swimmer himself. Adam Peaty broke his silence on the family conflict just days before the Vegas trip with a heartfelt statement posted on Instagram. Addressing the situation after his mother, Caroline, claimed he was in "Gordon's clutches," Peaty wrote of his commitment to self-improvement.
"For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place," he penned. He added, "Bethany [his sister], Holly and I will get through this - we do not ask for sympathy. We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story."
Escalating Tensions and a Stag Do Incident
The roots of the feud appear deep, reportedly triggered in part by Holly's failure to invite her future mother-in-law to her hen party. This has led to Peaty reportedly banning his mother, Caroline, from their upcoming wedding at Bath Abbey on 27 December.
The situation escalated dramatically earlier this month during Peaty's stag do in Hungary. The Olympian was allegedly subjected to "increasingly abusive and threatening" text messages, which became so severe that Holly contacted the police. Fearing a confrontation upon his return, police met Peaty at Manchester Airport.
In a subsequent development, Peaty's older brother, James, 34, was arrested at his home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail.
Meanwhile, Holly's parents, Gordon and Tana Ramsay, have not publicly commented on the feud. They were photographed at the Las Vegas Grand Prix with their youngest daughter, Tilly, appearing in good spirits alongside other A-list attendees like Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Naomi Campbell.
With the wedding just weeks away, the rift between Adam Peaty and his family shows no signs of healing, casting a shadow over what should be a celebratory time for the couple.
