Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo and her British actor boyfriend, Louis Partridge, have reportedly ended their relationship after more than two years together.
A Sudden End to a Private Romance
The split is said to have occurred a few weeks ago, with both stars being 22 years old. This news comes as a surprise to fans, especially as Partridge gave a rare and glowing interview about their relationship to Esquire UK just last month. In it, he declared he had "no doubt that we're both in a relationship for the right reason."
It is now believed the couple will be spending the holiday season apart. The emotional fallout was visible this week when Olivia Rodrigo was spotted in tears at her friend Lily Allen's Christmas party at the Stringfellows strip club in London. A source told The Sun she was emotional while talking with pals about the breakup.
Friends Rally Around Emotional Olivia
"They made such a lovely couple so people who know them were shocked when they heard," an insider revealed. "It's not been the easiest few weeks for them and they decided it's better to be apart for now. Olivia was at Lily's party and emotional when she was talking about it. Her friends have rallied around her but it's just been pretty rough. It's really sad right now."
Representatives for both Rodrigo and Partridge have been contacted for comment by the Daily Mail.
The breakup marks a stark contrast to recent public appearances. In October, the couple looked "absolutely smitten" during a date at Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood. Furthermore, in his recent Esquire interview, Partridge broke his silence on their very public display of affection at Wimbledon this summer, where they were seen passionately kissing.
A Relationship Largely Kept Private
"I was not aware that was going to be a thing. I did see a lot of photos from that, it felt quite public," he said. "Olivia and I choose, or have been choosing, to not be so public... there's a sanctity to being private."
The pair first sparked dating rumours when they were seen together in his hometown of London in October 2023. Partridge had previously playfully dodged questions about whether Rodrigo's song So American was about him, telling Elle magazine in October 2024, "Not my song, not my place. So I wouldn't know."
He did, however, credit Olivia with influencing his music taste and described his own approach to relationships as being like a "golden retriever" boyfriend—easygoing and loyal. In a past interview with British Vogue, he also reflected on the pressures of dating in the spotlight, stating, "Dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye. There's enough going on between two people."
Louis Partridge was previously linked to actress Sydney Chandler, while Olivia Rodrigo's past relationships include record producer Zack Bia and actor Ethan Wacker.
