A luxury Rhode Island hotel has issued a firm rebuttal to swirling rumours that global pop icon Taylor Swift paid a substantial sum to secure her preferred wedding date at the expense of another engaged couple.
The Rumour and Its Numerology Roots
Speculation had been rife that Swift, famously fond of the number 13, aimed to marry NFL star Travis Kelce on June 13, 2026. This date holds personal significance as her half-birthday, aligning with her known interest in numerology. Reports, initially published by Page Six, suggested the exclusive Ocean House Hotel in Watch Hill was already booked for that date. The claim was that Swift's team successfully offered lavish compensation to the other couple to relinquish their reservation.
Hotel Issues Unequivocal Denial
However, the narrative has taken a definitive turn. Stephanie Leavitt, the hotel's Area Director of Sales and Marketing, provided a statement to the Daily Mail categorically denying the story. "Ocean House would not and is not allowing another party or entity to buy a wedding group out of a contracted wedding date," Leavitt stated.
She emphasised the venue's commitment to client agreements and confidentiality, adding, "When clients and their families choose Ocean House as their wedding venue, it is an agreement and commitment between our team and that family." The hotel prides itself on integrity and service, allowing couples to confirm their plans privately.
Swift's Proximity to the Venue
The Ocean House Hotel's connection to Swift is geographical. The meticulously restored Victorian-style seafront resort, originally built in 1868 and reopened in 2010, is located on Bluff Avenue in Watch Hill. This is the same prestigious street where Swift owns her Holiday House mansion, a historic colonial property she purchased for $17.75 million in cash in 2013. The hotel is a mere five-minute walk from her estate, which is renowned for hosting star-studded gatherings.
Swift's fascination with the number 13 is well-documented among her fans. She has cited it as her lucky number, noting its appearance at key career moments, such as her first number-one song having a 13-second intro. The speculation around the June 13 date was fuelled further when she announced her latest album on an August 13 episode of Kelce's podcast.
