The emergency services are dealing with an incident in the Kings Norton area, and all lines have been closed to ensure their safety.

Affected Services

The disruption has thrown the train schedule into chaos. Journeys to Scotland, Wales, and numerous cities across England are now running on hurried reschedules and delays. Specifically affected services include:

  • CrossCountry trains between Edinburgh and Bristol Temple Meads
  • CrossCountry trains between Leeds and Plymouth
  • CrossCountry trains between Leicester and Cardiff Central

Trains between Birmingham New Street and Droitwich Spa or Worcestershire Parkway may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes, or revised.

Duration and Replacement Services

Disruption is expected to last all night. Rail replacement buses are being called in. A National Rail spokesman stated: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident in the Kings Norton area. So they can safely carry out their work, all lines are closed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

Road transport has been requested and will run all stations between Longbridge and Redditch and between Longbridge and Bromsgrove. The road transport shuttle is estimated to commence within the hour.

  • London Northwestern Railway: Between Birmingham and Stafford, connecting to trains heading to Lichfield Trent Valley

  • National Express West Midlands Bus Routes: Route 6, 8A/8C, 11A/11C, 65, 67, 77, 907, X14, X3, X4, X5

South of Birmingham

  • West Midlands Railway: Between Birmingham Moor Street and Shirley. From Shirley, local buses can be taken to Kings Norton, Longbridge, and Northfield.

Passengers travelling to or from Duddeston and Aston can use the Walsall to Birmingham line, if not affected.
