Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychkova has revealed why her 'heart broke a little' after celebrating her daughter's 10th birthday. The professional dancer, who recently confirmed her departure from the BBC One dance show after nine years, took to social media to mark her daughter Mila's special day on Sunday, June 7.
A Touching Birthday Tribute
Sharing a photo on Instagram, Nadiya showed herself and Mila cuddling close together as Mila held gold '10' balloons. In her heartfelt caption, she wrote: 'My darling Mila, Happy 10th Birthday, my beautiful girl. Ten years ago, you changed my life forever and gave it a whole new meaning. Watching you grow into the kind, clever, funny, determined and caring young girl you are today has been the greatest privilege of my life.'
She continued: 'I am so proud of you, not because of your achievements, your dancing, or the things you do, but because of who you are. You have such a big heart, a curious mind, and a wonderful way of making people smile. No matter what life brings, where your dreams take you, or how much you change, please always remember that you are deeply loved, exactly as you are.'
The star added: 'Thank you for being my greatest joy, my biggest adventure, and the very best part of every day. I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings for you. Happy Birthday, my sweet girl. Love always and forever, Mummy. P.S. Being your mummy is my favourite thing in the world.'
The Hardest Show Day
Later, Nadiya, who is currently on tour with platinum-selling vocal harmony group The Overtones and former Olympian and Strictly winner Louis Smith, reflected on having to leave her daughter to perform. On her Instagram Story, she penned: 'The hardest show day of all. I'm so grateful I managed to get home last night, after the show in Ipswich, wake up with Mila this morning, celebrate her birthday, open presents, share cuddles, laughter and all those little moments that matter so much.'
She continued: 'Everything is organised, she'll have the most wonderful day, and I know she understands that mummy has to work. But that doesn't stop my heart from breaking a little as I leave. No matter how much I love what I do, being away from her, especially on days like today, will never feel easy. But the show must go on!!! See you all in Aylesbury tonight @jukeboxidols.'
