American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor has candidly discussed her family's decision to welcome their third child via gestational surrogate, offering a heartfelt insight into their personal journey. The Grammy-winning artist, best known for hits like "All About That Bass," and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, announced the arrival of their daughter, Mikey Moon Trainor, in a touching Instagram post earlier this week.
A Medical Decision Rooted in Safety
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Trainor revealed that surrogacy was not the couple's initial preference but became the recommended path after extensive medical consultations. The singer carried their two sons, Riley, aged four, and Barry, two, herself, making this a new experience for the growing family.
"It wasn't our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family," Trainor explained to the publication. "We are forever grateful for that option."
Challenging Stigma and Celebrating All Paths to Parenthood
The "Made You Look" performer addressed the lingering societal stigma sometimes associated with surrogacy, advocating strongly for its normalisation and respect. She emphasised that every family's story is unique and equally valid.
"I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It's not something to whisper about or judge. It's rooted in trust, science, love, and teamwork," Trainor stated. "Every family's journey looks different, and all of them are extremely valid."
Praising an "Incredible, Superwoman" Surrogate
Trainor expressed profound gratitude for their surrogate, whom she described as exceptionally selfless and loving. The singer highlighted the strong connection maintained throughout the pregnancy and the surrogate's compassionate communication.
"Our surrogate is one of the most selfless, strong and loving people I've ever met. We felt so connected throughout the entire journey, and I'll always be grateful for the care and love she showed our daughter," she shared. "She gave us the greatest gift of our lives. She graciously answered our many check-in texts to make sure she was doing okay."
A Joyful Family Announcement
The official birth announcement on social media featured adorable photographs of newborn Mikey Moon alongside her proud parents and excited older brothers. The caption echoed Trainor's interview sentiments, thanking the medical teams involved.
"Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate.
