Maureen McCormick's Discreet Los Angeles Outing With Husband After 41 Years

Once America's most recognisable teenage star, Maureen McCormick is now embracing a quieter life, as exclusive photographs reveal. The Brady Bunch actress, aged 69, was seen keeping a low profile during a power walk in her Los Angeles neighbourhood with her husband of 41 years, Michael Cummings.

Incognito Style and Sunny Stroll

In an effort to shield herself from the California sun and perhaps avoid recognition, McCormick opted for a full face mask, cap, and sunglasses during the stroll on March 26. Despite the discreet attire, there was no attempt to conceal the affection between the couple, who were photographed holding hands just days after celebrating their wedding anniversary on March 16.

The former child star sported a casual and sporty ensemble, including a grey sweatshirt, pink Lululemon shorts over grey leggings, and Hoka sneakers. Her husband accompanied her on the sunny walk, which took place in their local area.

Friendly Encounter and Warm Embrace

During their walk, the pair paused after bumping into a female friend who appeared to be selling eyeglasses on the street. Photographs show McCormick and Cummings stopping briefly to examine the items and engage in conversation with the vendor. Although they left empty-handed, McCormick shared a warm embrace with the woman before continuing on her way with her husband.

Surviving Challenges and Building a Lasting Marriage

McCormick, who found fame as the eldest daughter Marcia Brady in the classic 1970s sitcom, has been open about the difficulties she faced behind the scenes. The couple have notably overcome significant low points, particularly in the early stages of their romance. Maureen admitted she was forced to abandon a cocaine habit following a make-or-break ultimatum from Michael.

They married in 1985, at the height of her destructive drug addiction, which nearly ended their relationship. In her 2008 memoir, McCormick revealed that her turning point came when Cummings gave her a stark choice between sobriety and divorce.

Secrets to a Thriving Relationship

Late last year, McCormick and Cummings opened up about the secret to their long-lasting marriage, admitting they put in "a lot of work" for their "lifetime deal" to thrive. Her husband told People in September, "You've got to have a sense of humour about things. You can't take things too seriously. You got to let things go and just love the one you're with. It's a lifetime deal."

The actress emphasised the importance of "celebrating the differences" and reflected on their milestone anniversary, saying, "Honestly, we haven't stopped celebrating, because I think it's taken a lot of work to be at this place in our relationship. It's better than ever. We feel very grateful and thankful to have found each other."

Rise to Fame and Career Struggles

McCormick was just 13 years old when she rose to fame as a child star, charming audiences as the pretty and popular Marcia Brady for five seasons before The Brady Bunch ended in 1974. She reprised her role in various spinoffs and guest-starred in TV series and movies throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

However, the show's cancellation led to crippling substance abuse that derailed her career and threatened her marriage. Meanwhile, Michael Cummings has enjoyed a successful career as a TV and movie actor, appearing in series such as Criminal Minds, Fresh Off the Boat, and Miracle on Ice.

Today, the couple's low-key stroll in Los Angeles symbolises their journey from public scrutiny and personal struggles to a private, enduring partnership built on humour, work, and mutual appreciation.
