David Haye's girlfriend Sian Osborne reportedly found his controversial 'ugly bird' comments 'really funny', despite sparking a sexism row on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. The former boxer, 42, joked that his partner of six years had 'the personality of a proper ugly bird', prompting backlash from viewers and campmates.
A source told The Sun that Sian understood why people were upset but believed the remarks were meant as a compliment. 'He thinks of himself as a bit of a philosopher and was using the 'ugly duck theory' to boast about how Sian has it all – the stunning looks and killer personality,' the insider said. 'She knows David has a heart of gold and worships the ground she walks on.'
During Monday night's episode, Haye doubled down on his comments, explaining that 'ugly girls' develop personalities to compensate for their looks, while 'super pretty girls' often lack personality. He insisted he would still date Sian 'even if she didn't look how she looked'.
David and Sian have been dating since 2020, with their relationship previously making headlines over reports of a throuple with Una Healy – claims the Saturdays singer has denied.
