Louis Tomlinson Reveals He Hated Singing One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful
Louis Tomlinson hated singing One Direction hit

In a surprising revelation, Louis Tomlinson has confessed that he always hated singing One Direction's iconic debut single, What Makes You Beautiful. The track, which launched the band to global stardom after their time on The X Factor, seems to hold no fond performance memories for the 33-year-old singer.

The Candid Confession

Speaking to fans ahead of his appearance at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball next month, Tomlinson was asked which song from his extensive catalogue he disliked performing. With complete honesty, he replied, "I'm an open book. I will just give you every answer! So, maybe some people wouldn't answer this, but I'm not sure there's a single time I performed One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful and enjoyed it." He added that singing the hit felt like "a bit of a challenge."

Personal Triumph Over Tragedy

Tomlinson's life has been marked by profound personal loss, which provides context to his career journey. The singer was deeply affected by the tragic death of his bandmate, Liam Payne, who died in October last year after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.

This was not the first heartbreak for Louis. His mother, Johannah, lost her battle with leukaemia in 2016. Just three years later, his 18-year-old sister, Felicite, was found dead in her West London flat. A coroner ruled her death was caused by a "perfect storm"—a fatal combination of cocaine, Xanax, and OxyContin.

Looking Forward: Solo Career and Loyalty

Despite these tragedies, Louis has shown remarkable resilience. After One Direction went on hiatus in 2016, he embarked on a successful solo career. He is now in a relationship with Love Island star Zara McDermott.

His loyalty to those from his past was recently demonstrated when he donated £4,000 to a GoFundMe page for his former bodyguard, Preston Mahon. The funds were needed for life-saving surgery to clear blocked arteries in both of Mahon's legs. Preston told The Sun, "I'm so appreciative, it means the world to me."

While the song that made him a global star may not be his favourite, Louis Tomlinson continues to move forward, building on his legacy and supporting those around him.
