Kendra Wilkinson Slams Celebrities Over Lack of Honesty on GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs
Kendra Wilkinson, the 40-year-old former Playboy model and TV personality, has publicly criticised celebrities who are not "honest" about their use of GLP-1 medications for weight loss. In a recent Instagram story shared on Wednesday, Wilkinson revealed that she is embarking on her own GLP-1 journey, emphasising her commitment to transparency in the process.
Starting a New Health Journey with Effecty.com
In the video clip, filmed outdoors, Wilkinson expressed her excitement about beginning treatment with Effecty.com, a company that offers "treatments for weight loss, longevity and women’s hormone therapy," according to its official website. She stated, "I'm so excited I'm starting my GLP-1 journey today with Effecty.com - unlike most people, I'm being honest with this journey." This move comes after she recently addressed claims that she aged "poorly," showcasing her unfiltered self-acceptance.
Intentional Approach to Weight Management
In the caption of her post, Wilkinson elaborated on her motivations, writing, "Starting my GLP-1 journey and being really intentional about how I do it. For me, it wasn't just about weight… it was about feeling better, having more energy, and actually trusting the process instead of rushing it." She further explained that she sought a "transparent, supportive, and realistic" approach tailored to her lifestyle, marking this as just the beginning of her shared experience.
Previous Struggles and Personal Insights
Wilkinson opened up about her decision in an interview with Us Weekly last week, noting, "There's nothing worse than being in a gym every single day, working out and not seeing any progress." She highlighted her contentment at age 40 but acknowledged tighter jeans as a catalyst, saying, "I hit 40. I'm happy. I'm at peace, but I noticed that my jeans are a little tighter lately, so I don't want to go out and shop anymore." Her goal is not to be skinny but to achieve balance and fit comfortably again.
Past Attempts and Lifestyle Changes
This is not Wilkinson's first foray into weight loss interventions. In April last year, she briefly tried a weight loss shot, sharing on Instagram, "I started the weight loss shots. Only did one. Nevermind. Throwing away!!" followed by a reference to "mental ozempic." Additionally, in December, she undertook an alcohol detox, posting a selfie with the caption, "Rise and grind. Please respect my alcohol detox people."
Embracing Self-Acceptance and Motherhood
Earlier in January 2025, Wilkinson addressed body comments on social media, stating, "Yes, I've gained weight. Yes, I'm aging. Yes, I'm not that girl I was before (Playboy girl). For once in a long time I feel good and mentally healthy." She emphasised her happiness as a mother to Hank Baskett IV, 16, and Alijah, 11, sharing, "Kids are my everything. Feeling pretty balanced." Recently, she defended her aging process, posting an unfiltered selfie and declaring she is "ok with aging 'poorly'" and "happier than I've ever been."
Background and Career Reflections
Wilkinson, who was one of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends and lived in the Playboy Mansion until age 23, gained fame through the reality series The Girls Next Door. She has been vocal about mental health struggles, including depression. Now working as a realtor, she reflected, "I was verrrry young when I started TV and lived a crazy chaotic 20 years of impressing others but now it's about ME. Giving back to ME. Even with less money and Way less fame." She concluded by expressing gratitude for her children and current life phase.
