Kendra Wilkinson Responds to Critics Over Ageing Comments
Former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson has publicly addressed what she describes as "nasty trolls" who have targeted her appearance over the years, particularly those claiming she has "aged poorly". The 40-year-old, who rose to fame as one of Hugh Hefner's 'bunnies', has emphasised that she is now "happier than ever" despite the negative attention.
From Playboy Mansion to Real Estate Career
Kendra Wilkinson first entered the Playboy Mansion at the age of 18, quickly gaining prominence after being spotted at Hefner's 78th birthday celebration in 2004. Her vibrant personality led to a successful television career, including her own reality series Kendra and Kendra on Top, as well as a role on The Girls Next Door alongside Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt.
After a five-year stint at the mansion from 2004 to 2009, and with her TV work declining by 2017, Wilkinson stepped away from the Playboy spotlight to focus on family life. In 2020, she transitioned into a new profession as a real estate agent, marking a significant shift in her career path.
Embracing Natural Self and Responding to Trolls
Despite her career changes, Wilkinson has continued to face harsh criticism regarding her looks. In response, she stated, "I used to use a light filter on myself, but now I'm just embracing myself as I am." She acknowledged the comments about ageing poorly, saying, "I've seen many people comment saying I've aged 'poorly' - and that is OK. I'm OK with ageing 'poorly'."
Wilkinson elaborated on her current mindset, noting, "For some reason, I'm happier than I've ever been lately, even with a little weight gain and wrinkles, and I'm not going to tie my happiness to negative energy again." She described herself as a "balanced, single, positive, fun woman who loves life", highlighting her journey from a chaotic early career to a more self-focused present.
Family Life and Support from Fans
Wilkinson is now a mother to two children, Hank Jr. and Alijah, whom she shares with ex-NFL player Hank Baskett. The couple were married for a decade before separating in 2018. She expressed that watching her children grow has brought her immense happiness, stating, "Watching them grow has brought me more happiness than anything else. I'm so grateful for where I am today."
Supporters have flooded social media with encouraging messages. Model Crystal Harris commented, "Cheers to those who grow and move on to the life waiting for us." Another admirer added, "It's honestly a blessing to age. We aren't meant to stay young forever - people just need to enjoy the ride. PS you're a hot mama, Kendra." A further comment read, "There's nothing 'poor' about you. You've always been gorgeous - and always will be."
Wilkinson's response underscores a broader message about self-acceptance and resilience in the face of public scrutiny, as she continues to navigate life beyond her Playboy origins.
