Former glamour model Katie Price has launched a fresh and emotional attack on her ex-partner, footballer Dwight Yorke, alleging he has consistently refused to meet their son, Harvey, for over two decades.
A Staggering Allegation of Rejection
In a trailer for the Life Stories by Lewis Nicholls podcast, the 47-year-old mother-of-five made the shocking claim that Yorke, 54, has turned down the opportunity to see Harvey every single year since his birth in 2002. Katie fell pregnant with Harvey following a brief romance with the former Manchester United striker, who initially denied paternity. It is widely believed he has had no contact with his son.
During the interview, when host Lewis Nicholls mentioned Yorke, Katie immediately interjected with the term 'sperm donor'. She went on to explain her persistent efforts to facilitate a relationship, driven by a desire to ensure Harvey could never question her actions in the future.
'Always The Same Answer'
'Every year, my mum contacts his manager, 'Do you want to see Harvey for his birthday? Do you want to see him for Christmas?'' Katie revealed. 'It's always the same answer, just not interested.'
She added a heartbreaking note about Harvey's understanding, stating, 'Harvey doesn't understand, which is probably a good thing.' Harvey, now 22, faces significant complex needs. He is blind, autistic, has septo-optic dysplasia, a learning disability and Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting around 2,000 people in the UK.
A History of Estrangement and Public Swipes
Katie Price previously stated that the last time Yorke saw Harvey was back in 2012. The rift has periodically spilled into public view. In October, she posted an Instagram video of Harvey wearing a Manchester United shirt—Yorke's old team—chanting 'Oi, oi, Yorkey', while she tagged both the footballer and the club.
Recalling Harvey's birth on her own podcast, Katie described how Yorke turned up at the hospital but did not want to enter the room or cut the umbilical cord. 'That was the last time I sort of saw Dwight,' she said. Katie's mother, Amy, has also previously waded in, calling Yorke a 'womaniser' but paradoxically naming him as her favourite of her daughter's former partners.
Katie is also mother to Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, with ex-husband Peter Andre, and Jett, 12, and Bunny, 11, with ex-husband Kieran Hayler. The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Dwight Yorke for comment.
