Jess Glynne reveals heartbreaking reason for missing I'm A Celeb

Singer Jess Glynne has shared the heartbreaking reason behind her absence when girlfriend Alex Scott was eliminated from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, revealing her mother suffered a major stroke requiring emergency brain surgery.

Family Emergency Prevents Reunion

The 41-year-old former England footballer hugged her campmates as they cheered her name during Friday's episode when it was announced she had received the fewest votes. During her two weeks in the Australian jungle, Scott faced numerous challenges including skydiving from 12,000 feet and wading through offal.

Glynne celebrated her partner's efforts in an emotional Instagram post, writing: "My woman might be out far earlier than she deserved, but I'm so unbelievably proud of her. She didn't get the airtime to show how incredible she really is and trust me, this is only the beginning."

Heartfelt Explanation for Absence

Explaining why she wasn't waiting at the end of the bridge to greet Scott, Glynne revealed: "Over the last few weeks, my mum suffered a major stroke and needed urgent brain surgery. It's been a really life-altering time for my family, and I've had to stay close to home."

She added touching words about her relationship with Scott: "Alex would always want me to be where I'm needed most. I can't wait to have her back by my side."

Jungle Experience and Future Hopes

Scott was up for eviction alongside several other celebrities including:

  • TV personality Jack Osbourne
  • Social media star Angryginge
  • Rapper Aitch
  • Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp
  • Model Kelly Brook
  • Comedian Ruby Wax

Reflecting on her jungle experience, Scott told presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: "My jungle experience has been a whole lot more than what I expected it to be. It's been really special to connect with a group of people that have allowed me to just be me."

She and Kelly Brook, who formed a strong bond during their time in camp, were the final two contestants facing eviction. Scott expressed her hope that EastEnders actress Shona McGarty would be crowned Queen of the Jungle, saying it would "change her and give her the confidence to take on life."

Martin Kemp delivered an emotional speech to his campmates, describing the experience as "the best thing that I've done for years" and praising the special bond they had created.
