Singer Jess Glynne has publicly criticised ITV, claiming her girlfriend Alex Scott did not receive sufficient airtime before becoming the first celebrity evicted from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Sweet tribute and serious allegations
Following the broadcast of Scott's jungle exit on Friday, Glynne took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to the former footballer while simultaneously taking aim at the programme's producers. The 36-year-old musician wrote that her partner was "out far earlier than she ever deserved" while expressing immense pride in Scott's jungle journey.
In her social media post, Glynne made a significant allegation about the show's editing, stating: "She didn't get the airtime to show how incredible she really is, and trust me, this is only the beginning." This comment suggests the singer believes viewers didn't see the full extent of Scott's contributions during her time in camp.
Family emergency revealed
Glynne also addressed public curiosity about why she wasn't present to greet Scott upon her exit from the jungle, revealing a serious family health crisis. The singer explained that her mother had recently suffered a major stroke and required urgent brain surgery.
"It's been really serious, life-altering time for my family and I've had to stay close to home," Glynne shared, providing context for her absence from the traditional bridge reunion. She expressed excitement about being reunited with Scott despite the challenging circumstances.
Scott's jungle experience
After her eviction, the 41-year-old football pundit and Lioness described her jungle experience as "such an incredible experience" despite acknowledging the mental challenges. Scott confessed to struggling with the demanding environment, noting the constant tasks of collecting water and firewood.
Scott was met by friend Regan Coleman rather than Glynne and accompanied back to her hotel. During her time on the programme, the broadcaster had openly discussed her relationship with Glynne, even revealing to campmate Ruby Wax that she would marry the singer "just waiting for her to ask."
The former footballer also admitted to secretly bringing banned salt into camp, concealing it in her sock with her campmates' knowledge. She backed fellow contestant Shona McGarty to win the competition, predicting the experience would give her "the confidence to be brilliant at life."
The eviction followed Thursday night's episode where Scott, Aitch, Angry Ginge, Ruby Wax OBE, Kelly Brook, Jack Osbourne and Martin Kemp all faced the public vote after a one-on-one trial determined who would be at risk of elimination.
