Diddy's Mother Janice Combs Slams Netflix Doc 'The Reckoning' as False
Janice Combs Denies Abuse Claims in Netflix Diddy Series

The mother of music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has launched a fierce defence of her son and herself, publicly condemning the new Netflix documentary series that portrays their family in a damning light.

Mother Denies Documentary's 'Inaccuracies' and 'Lies'

In a statement provided to Rolling Stone magazine, Janice Combs expressed her fury at Sean Combs: The Reckoning, the four-part series released this week. She accused the production, which has rapper 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) as an executive producer, of being created with the intent to "mislead viewers" and damage the family's reputation further.

Janice specifically sought to correct what she called a number of "inaccuracies" and "lies" presented in the show. A central claim she refutes is that she was an abusive parent to her son. "As I have stated previously, I was a single mother, raising my son," she said. "I held three and even four jobs in an attempt to provide a comfortable upbringing and quality education for my child. I raised Sean with love and hard work, not abuse."

Disputing the 'Slapping' Incident and Defending Her Son

One of the most explosive allegations featured in the documentary comes from Bad Boy Entertainment co-founder Kirk Burrowes. He claimed that Diddy once slapped his mother during a conversation following the tragic City College stampede on December 28, 1991.

Janice Combs has branded this account "patently false" and "inaccurate." She described the day as a "very sad day for all of us" and accused Burrowes of using the tragedy to further his own interests, referencing a past dispute over Bad Boy Records.

She also dismissed claims made by Tim Patterson, an alleged childhood friend of Diddy, labelling them as "salacious." Instead, she painted a picture of her son as a "respectful and diligent" child who grew into an "industrious, goal oriented, over achiever." She praised the currently incarcerated star as a "dutiful son" who has provided her with medical and financial support.

Netflix and Diddy's Camp in War of Words

The statement from Janice Combs adds another layer to the ongoing public dispute surrounding the documentary. Representatives for Diddy previously attacked the series, calling it "fundamentally unfair and illegal." They accused Netflix of sensationalism and using private footage, including conversations with lawyers, without proper rights.

Netflix has firmly hit back against these accusations. A spokesperson stated: "The claims being made about Sean Combs: The Reckoning are false. The project has no ties to any past conversations between Sean Combs and Netflix. The footage of Combs leading up to his indictment and arrest were legally obtained."

The spokesperson also clarified 50 Cent's role, noting that while he is an executive producer, he does not have creative control, and that no participants were paid. They insisted the series is "not a hit piece or an act of retribution."

Diddy is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. His mother concluded her statement by requesting a public retraction of the "distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements" she believes the documentary promotes.
