Jack Whitehall and Roxy Horner tied the knot last weekend in a lavish £250,000 ceremony at Euridge Manor in Wiltshire, with pictures from the day capturing the magic of their 'fairy-tale' wedding. However, one detail in the photographs may have escaped notice but holds immense significance for many people across the UK.
The Wedding Day
VIP guests including James Corden, Jamie Redknapp, and Freddie Flintoff attended the black-tie event. Jack wore a traditional black tie suit with a flower buttonhole and Christian Louboutin shoes, while Roxy, with whom Jack shares a daughter named Elsie, wore one dress for the ceremony and another for the afterparty. She had her final fittings at Mayfair bridal boutique Galia Lahav and revealed that the dress she chose was actually the first one she tried on.
A Detail That Matters
In the professional pictures shared online, a small white plastic circle is visible on the back of Roxy's left arm. This device is a continuous glucose monitor, used to track her blood sugar levels due to type 1 diabetes. Roxy was diagnosed just before her 30th birthday in May 2021, after noticing she was drinking more water than usual. She has been open about her condition and works with Diabetes UK to raise awareness.
By leaving her monitor visible in her wedding photos, Roxy has sparked a wave of gratitude from people living with diabetes. One person commented: "As the mum to a diabetic child, it means so much to them to see others with the tech on display, not being hidden away. Especially in the media." Another said: "I was weirdly so self conscious about my sensors for my wedding next year until I saw these photos." Jack revealed a wardrobe malfunction: "I squatted down to pick up Elsie and my trousers split, my whole ass was hanging out." Fortunately, all eyes were on Elsie, who served as one of three flower girls in a white dress inspired by her mother's wedding look.
There were eight bridesmaids, each wearing different gold dresses, including Jack's sister Molly and models Sophie Longford and Milly Slinger. The ceremony featured Disney music, with 'Beauty and the Beast' playing. Roxy’s sister Rihanna read a passage from Winnie The Pooh, and Jack's friend Tally Gilbert read a personalized poem. Neil Stuke, Jack's father's best friend, performed a Shakespearean sonnet.
The couple's first dance was to Michael Jackson's 'Rock With You,' though neither told the band they wanted a slowed-down version. Roxy said: "He told me to ‘follow his lead’ so I did."
