Holly Ramsay has officially begun the countdown to her highly anticipated wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty this month, but the festive celebrations are being overshadowed by a bitter and very public feud with his family.
A Wedding Month Overshadowed by Discord
On Monday, Holly took to Instagram to wish her fiancé a "happy wedding month," sharing a sweet post after receiving a "pretty" surprise from him. The daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay also posted snaps of herself in a bridal veil, posing in a two-piece from Victoria's Secret Bridal, with the caption: "iiit’s Wedding Month."
Despite the romantic social media gestures, the couple's upcoming nuptials have been dramatically clouded by a toxic family row. Adam has taken the drastic step of disinviting all of his relatives from the wedding, with the sole exception of his sister, Bethany. The rift reportedly began when Adam's mother, Caroline, was not invited to Holly's exclusive hen do at Soho Farmhouse last month, an event attended by Holly's mother Tana, Bethany Peaty, and Victoria Beckham.
The Roots of the Family Rift
Sources now claim that tensions between the Ramsay and Peaty families first surfaced at Holly and Adam's engagement party last December. The party was filmed for Gordon Ramsay's upcoming Netflix docuseries, with guests reportedly required to sign non-disclosure agreements and hand in their phones.
An insider revealed that at the engagement party, Adam's mother Caroline was unhappy that some family members were not present and confronted Gordon Ramsay at the event. The situation deteriorated further after the hen do snub, leading to a series of shocking allegations from both sides, including claims that Caroline was asked to change her chosen outfit for the wedding.
In the wake of the disinvitations, Adam's aunt, Louise, publicly criticised the couple on social media, suggesting Caroline was excluded due to her appearance and not having the right "look."
Bethany Peaty: The Sole Family Survivor
Amid the fallout, Adam's sister Bethany appears to be the only member of his family to remain in the couple's good graces. She attended the glamorous hen do and is reportedly set to be a bridesmaid. A friend suggested Bethany "fits in" with the Ramsays' world because "she's blonde and very pretty," and has been captivated by the celebrity lifestyle.
Adam recently broke his silence on the feud with an Instagram statement. He wrote, "Bethany, Holly and I will get through this... there are always two sides to every story." He also cited an "ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events" as a reason they could not go into detail.
The couple are set to marry in a Christmas spectacular at Bath's historic Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, before enjoying festive drinks. However, the shadow of the family dispute now looms large over what was intended to be a joyous celebration.
