Actress Hilary Duff and her musician husband, Matthew Koma, have joyfully marked their sixth wedding anniversary, sharing the milestone with fans in a series of candid and humorous social media posts.
A Playful Celebration on Social Media
The couple, both aged 38, took to Instagram on Sunday to commemorate the occasion. Koma led the tributes by posting a cherished photograph from their wedding day, directly addressing the sceptics who doubted their relationship's longevity.
"6 years my wifey. And they said we wouldn't make it. Literally everyone said 'they won't make it,'" he wrote in his caption. He then humorously clarified, "Okay just that guy in the Just Jared comment section, but f**k him, we're crushing." Duff, a mother-of-four, promptly re-shared his post to her own Instagram Stories.
An Unconventional Tribute: Love Compared to Fast Food
In his unique tribute, Koma, who co-wrote Duff's new song 'Mature', drew a hilarious comparison between being married to the star and eating at a popular fast-food chain in the 1990s.
"Being married to you is like eating Taco Bell in the 90s," he declared. He elaborated, "I never know which you I'm gonna get but it's largely the same ingredients and the euphoria outweighs the tummy discomfort. And you always look cool and I get really excited when someone says 'we're going to get a meximelt.'"
The former Disney star, clearly amused, responded in the comments, writing, "It's so hot being compared to Taco Bell. He always gets the assignment."
Nostalgic Throwbacks and a Blended Family
Koma also offered fans a sweet glimpse into the early days of their romance, sharing screenshots from 2015. One image showed a calendar reminder for a coffee shop meeting in Studio City, which he labelled "The meeting went well!" Another was an email thread where he told a friend about Duff, "I wanna get married." He triumphantly added in his anniversary post, "And I did."
The couple, who first met ten years ago while collaborating on Duff's album 'Breathe In. Breathe Out.', now share three young daughters: Banks, seven, Mae, four, and Townes, one. Duff is also mother to a 13-year-old son, Luca, from her previous marriage to Mike Comrie.
Koma's post charmingly captured their chaotic family life, stating, "Our kids are screaming at each other and Mae just ripped Ken doll's head off," before affirming, "I love you."
For her part, Duff honoured the day by posting a sentimental montage video set to Adam Sandler's 'Grow Old With You', captioned "6 years into forever." Koma commented beneath it, calling their wedding day his "favourite day of my life."
Reflecting on their enduring bond in a 2021 interview with PEOPLE, Duff revealed, "We knew we just had to be together because we tried a bunch of times to be apart, and that didn't work out for either one of us," showcasing a relationship built on resilience and deep connection.
