Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals Natural Hair & Wig Secret After Prison Release
Gypsy Rose Blanchard reveals natural hair transformation

Gypsy Rose Blanchard caused a stir on social media this week after making a surprising confession about her appearance. The 34-year-old revealed that she typically wears a wig, sharing a rare glimpse of her natural hair with followers.

The Hair Revelation

In a candid Instagram Stories post on Wednesday, Blanchard addressed the frequent question "Why do you wear wigs?" by posting a photo of herself with short hair. She explained that this was her real, natural hair and detailed the reasons behind her choice to wear wigs.

"This is my real natural hair," Blanchard wrote. "I had to cut it really short because nearly two years of bleaching completely fried it." She expressed discomfort with her short hair, revealing that she normally wears a high-quality wig while waiting for her natural hair to grow back healthy.

The television personality emphasised that she's giving her hair "a fresh start so it can grow long again," showing a commitment to hair health after the damage caused by excessive bleaching.

Transformation Continues with Weight Loss

This hair revelation comes shortly after Blanchard stunned fans with another significant transformation in May - a 25lb weight loss. She shared photos showing her slimmed-down frame while posing cheerfully with partner Ken Urker.

In one snapshot, Blanchard dressed for warmer weather in denim shorts and a black leather top with a plunging neckline, celebrating her post-baby glow after welcoming daughter Aurora last December. A follow-up mirror selfie showed her toned figure in a sleeveless white vest, jeans, and black booties.

Blanchard has previously denied using weight-loss medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro, instead attributing her figure to focusing on "getting fit by doing yoga and other exercises to help tone" her stomach. She revealed on Instagram in January that she had "bought small gym equipment for my home to start getting healthy" and emphasised that she never used weight loss drugs.

New Chapter After Prison

Blanchard's life has undergone multiple transformations since her release from prison in December 2023. She served eight years of a 10-year prison sentence for assisting in the murder of her mother, Claudine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard.

Her childhood was marked by medical abuse, with her mother shaving her head, pumping her full of drugs, and convincing the world she suffered from leukemia and muscular dystrophy. This traumatic upbringing ended in 2015 when Gypsy arranged for her internet boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder her 48-year-old mother.

Blanchard's personal life has seen significant developments since her release. She welcomed daughter Aurora with Ken Urker on December 28 - exactly one year after leaving prison. The couple had previously been engaged in 2018 but split before reconciling recently.

In a YouTube video last July, Blanchard spoke about how her horrific upbringing would affect her approach to motherhood. "All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby," she stated. "I just want to be a good mother to my child, I want to be everything my mother wasn't."

The name Aurora holds special significance for the couple, chosen because of their shared fascination with the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). Remarkably, both had independently chosen the name years earlier while Blanchard was still imprisoned.

In a March interview with A&E True Crime, Blanchard opened up about how motherhood has changed her, saying "It's made me a lot more mature. It's made me really have to analyze my priorities." She acknowledged that becoming a parent has made her reflect on her own upbringing, though she stated she cannot relate to her mother's mindset.

As Blanchard continues to rebuild her life after prison, her recent hair revelation represents another step in her journey toward authenticity and self-acceptance, while maintaining the privacy and comfort she needs during this transitional period.
