Gemma Atkinson has directly addressed and dismissed widespread pregnancy speculation after fans repeatedly commented on her appearance. The radio presenter and former Strictly Come Dancing star clarified the situation during the latest episode of her podcast, Lost In Translation, which she co-hosts with her fiancé, professional dancer Gorka Marquez.
Podcast Discussion Reveals Fan Comments
During the podcast recording, Gorka Marquez informed Gemma that after sharing a clip from a previous episode, he received a message stating, "Somebody said, I’ve screenshotted it, that you're baby glowing!". A puzzled Gemma initially questioned the meaning, asking, "What does that mean? My skin?". She then humorously promoted her skincare line, Gem & Tonic, by adding, "It’s Gem & Tonic! That’s what my skin is, babes."
Gorka, aged 35, also admitted that he had recently thought she looked pregnant, though he clarified it was merely due to her sitting position at the time. Setting the record straight unequivocally, the 41-year-old Gemma stated, "Well let's clear up, I'm 100 percent not pregnant. I’m currently on a period as we speak, as you know."
Not the First Time Addressing Rumours
This incident marks the second time in recent months that Gemma Atkinson has had to confront pregnancy rumours. Last month, on her Hits Radio show, her co-star Mike Toolan jokingly expressed disappointment at not being informed if she were expecting.
Gemma elaborated, saying, "I'd love to say, in fact I wouldn't love to say I was pregnant as I'd be in a massive panic! Imagine a six-year-old, a two-year-old, a puppy, and a pregnancy. It’s not true, can you imagine! I keep seeing this and people keep messaging me, but I’m not with child. I can hand on heart say I’m not with child."
Family Life and Future Plans
Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez, who met on Strictly Come Dancing, are already parents to their daughter Mia, aged six, and son Thiago, aged two. The couple publicly confirmed their romance in 2018 after growing closer during the show's nationwide tour, and they announced their engagement on Valentine's Day in 2021.
Despite their engagement, the pair have yet to marry and are still deciding between a wedding in the United Kingdom or in Gorka's native Spain. Last year, when asked about wedding plans by a fan on Instagram, Gemma revealed, "Possibly next year, we’ve been back and forth about registry offices or going to Spain. None of us want a big fuss or lots of guests, so we may just go and do it with just family and come back and have a huge party!"
Considering a Spanish Property
In 2024, the couple also disclosed they were contemplating purchasing a property in Spain as a "home away from home." Gemma explained to The Mirror, "It would be nice to have somewhere that I can just take them with my family. It would help with my Spanish and theirs, and Gorka’s parents could drive down. It's something we’re hoping to do by the end of this year. We love Spain."
This potential move underscores their strong connection to Spain and their desire to maintain cultural ties for their children's upbringing.
