Fox News Host Anita Vogel Makes Emotional Return to Broadcasting After Personal Tragedy
Anita Vogel, a seasoned Fox News presenter with nearly 24 years at the network, has bravely returned to the airwaves following an intensely difficult period marked by profound personal loss. The 56-year-old journalist described the past year as 'the hardest of times' for her family, a sentiment she shared publicly as she announced her comeback to the Big Weekend Show.
A Year of Heartbreak and Resilience
In a heartfelt post on social media platform X, Vogel opened up about the dual tragedies that defined 2025 for her household. '2025 was a heartbreaking and tragic year for our family,' she wrote. 'After surviving the Palisades Fire in Southern California in January, we then lost my beloved husband, Mark Rozells, to complications of pancreatic cancer in October.'
Vogel explained that she had taken several months away from her professional duties to grieve and process the unimaginable loss. She credited her gradual return to work as a crucial part of her healing journey, helping to restore a semblance of normalcy to her life. 'By the grace of God we are moving forward one day at a time,' she added, expressing gratitude for the support from friends, family, and colleagues during this private period.
Overwhelming Support from Viewers and Colleagues
The announcement of her return prompted an outpouring of supportive messages from loyal fans and fellow broadcasters. One viewer commented, 'So many of us that watch and appreciate your talent as a news person are wrapping their arms around you and your family.' Another shared, 'I will keep you in my prayers. I understand all too well, I lost my husband of almost 50 years very suddenly on November 2, 2025.'
Fox and Friends weekend co-host Griff Jenkins publicly expressed his solidarity, writing on X, 'Our hearts break for my colleague Anita Vogel during this difficult time. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.' He praised Vogel as 'one of the most amazing, talented and kindest people you will ever meet' and emphasised the importance of supporting her through this tragic chapter.
Remembering Mark Rozells and Raising Awareness
In a poignant tribute to her late husband posted on the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy foundation's website, Vogel highlighted the sudden and shocking nature of his illness. She noted that Mark was a college athlete who maintained a healthy lifestyle, never smoked, and had no family history of pancreatic cancer. 'Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer that steals people who often don’t have a single symptom until it is too late,' she wrote, underscoring the disease's stealthy and devastating impact.
Rozells is survived by Vogel, their four children, his father, stepmother, and two sisters. In her tribute, Vogel remembered him for his incredible humility and encouraged others to perform a humble act in his memory, stating, 'It will make you smile.'
Return to the Big Weekend Show
Vogel made her official return during Saturday's evening segment of the Big Weekend Show, rejoining co-hosts Lisa Marie Boothe, Joey Jones, and Gianno Caldwell. The programme covered current events, including discussions on the arrest of former CNN host Don Lemon and Tom Homan's activities in Minnesota amid protests related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Expressing her anticipation for the broadcast, Vogel said, 'I'm looking forward to a great show tonight with the most lovely cast. Thanks to all the loyal fans who always tune in and we'll see you tonight.' Her return marks a significant step in her personal and professional recovery, as she continues to navigate life after enduring both a natural disaster and the profound grief of losing a spouse.
