The new year has brought heart-warming family news for Oscar-nominated actress Florence Pugh. The Black Widow star, 30, is excitedly preparing to become a real-life aunt for the first time. Her older brother, Game of Thrones actor and musician Toby Sebastian, 33, and his wife, London-based artist Scarlet, have announced they are expecting their first child.
The pregnancy revelation comes just four months after the couple tied the knot in a sun-drenched ceremony in Spain last September. Florence, who is famously close to her siblings, partied until 4am at the weekend-long wedding celebrations, fully supporting her brother as he said 'I do'.
A Joyful Announcement and a Personal Loss
Scarlet shared the exciting update on Instagram at the start of the year. She posted a photograph showing her growing baby bump in a vibrant red dress, captioned with the phrase 'Vomit season' - a candid reference to pregnancy-related morning sickness - alongside a hatching chick emoji. In the snap, taken en route to a party, Toby stands beside her holding bottles of wine and Aperol.
The announcement was, however, tinged with sadness. Scarlet also used her social media post to share the news of the recent death of her father. She reflected on the past year, writing: 'Cried a lot, celebrated a lot, puked a lot... But mainly spent the year thinking about what an honour it was to see my daddy through his last days.' She added a poignant note that while her father didn't get to see her marry or meet her future children, 'sometimes it's the little things that matter most.'
A Close-Knit Family Bond
Florence Pugh has often spoken publicly about the importance of her family. In a 2023 interview with Vogue, she stated: 'My siblings are just as big in my life as my parents.' She credited her brother and sisters - voice coach Arabella, 40, and Rafaela, 22 - with keeping her grounded, saying 'The best sign of a good person is the ability to laugh at yourself. And siblings were crucial for that.'
The Pugh family's connection to Spain runs deep. They relocated there when Florence was a child after she was diagnosed with Tracheomalacia, a respiratory condition. The warmer climate helped alleviate her symptoms. The family later returned to Oxford, but Spain remained a special location, chosen as the setting for Toby and Scarlet's lavish wedding last autumn.
Professionally, Toby Sebastian, whose full name is Sebastian Toby Pugh, is known for playing Trystane Martell in the fifth season of HBO's Game of Thrones. He is also an accomplished musician who has released two studio albums. In 2021, he collaborated with his famous sister on the song 'Midnight', with Florence providing backing vocals.
