A distressing video has emerged showing former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase living homeless on the streets of Los Angeles, prompting an outpouring of concern from his former co-stars.
Heartbreaking Discovery on the Streets
The footage, filmed in Riverside, California in September, shows the 36-year-old actor, best known for playing Martin Qwerly on the hit 2000s series Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, looking dishevelled and in clear difficulty. In the clip, a fan approaches and asks if he was on the Disney Channel, to which Chase clarifies, "Nickelodeon," and names the show.
The video quickly spread across social media, where it was met with widespread sadness. The situation came to the attention of Chase's former colleagues, who addressed it during a September 24 episode of the Ned's Declassified Podcast Survival Guide.
Co-Stars' Emotional Reaction
Daniel Curtis Lee, who played Simon Nelson-Cook on the show, described first seeing the video as "scary" and admitted it was "a lot to process." He revealed a mix of anger at the filming and powerlessness at the situation. "I was angry, because I was like, why put a camera on someone's face in hard times?" Lee said. "But then I was upset with myself because I feel powerless because there's not much that I felt I could do."
Lee initially hoped it was just bad timing, but after seeing other videos, acknowledged Chase was "going through some stuff." He expressed a desire to reconnect but also hesitation, stating, "I also don't want to waste my time and put him on the spot."
Lindsey Shaw (Jennifer Mosely) agreed, saying she was "in the same boat" and wanted to see Chase in person. "You can't do much, but I would love to go speak with him and just love on him and look him in the eye," Shaw shared. "I miss Tylor, I love Tylor so, so much."
A Career Remembered and a Hope for Recovery
Devon Werkheiser (Ned Bigby) called the footage "painful and shocking," noting how hard it is to see someone from a "really special time" in such circumstances. While he disliked seeing Chase exposed, he believed the person who posted the video had "her heart in the right place."
Born in Arizona, Chase began acting as a teenager. His most notable role was on Ned's Declassified, but he also appeared in Everybody Hates Chris in 2005 and played Young Adam in the 2008 film Good Time Max starring James Franco.
All three co-stars conveyed a deep sense of care and a hope for his recovery, with Lee stating, "I fully believe that he can recover." The Daily Mail has contacted Nickelodeon for comment regarding the situation.
