Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have reportedly purchased a $27 million (£20 million) mansion in Montecito, California, just over a year after relocating to the Cotswolds. The couple, who moved to the UK in 2024 citing weariness with Donald Trump's politics, are now said to be splitting their time between Britain and Montecito.
According to a source cited by People magazine, the pair have been missing California's weather and horse scene, with de Rossi particularly keen on polo and her horses. The insider noted that locals in the Cotswolds have not seen DeGeneres for some time, adding that she was always friendly but largely left alone as just another celebrity in the area.
Meanwhile, DeGeneres has slashed £4.5 million from the asking price of her Cotswolds home, Kitesbridge Farm near Burford, Oxfordshire. The six-bedroom farmhouse and its 43 acres were originally listed for £22.5 million but are now on the market for £18 million, according to Sotheby's International. Flooding from the River Windrush has plagued the property.
The listing has disappeared from Sotheby's website as the comedian reportedly has an American buyer lined up. A source told the Mail that there is firm interest and that the removal is part of the agreement between vendor and buyer while final terms are sorted. The couple spent £7.5 million on refurbishing the property, inside and out.
A representative for DeGeneres has been contacted for comment. The couple's new Montecito home places them near friends Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow.
