Ruth Langsford has spoken publicly for the first time about her separation from Eamonn Holmes, describing the breakdown of their 27-year relationship as 'difficult and painful'. The 64-year-old television presenter told Woman & Home magazine that she has accepted the end of her marriage but is not ruling out finding love again in the future.
Langsford, who co-hosted This Morning and GMTV with Holmes for many years, said she is now focusing on herself. 'I'm not delighted my marriage is over, but I've accepted it,' she said. 'I'm trying to now embrace the fact I'm single and can make choices that are just about me.' She added that she is 'fine on my own but not forever'.
Holmes, 65, who uses a wheelchair due to chronic back pain, has been seen with his new girlfriend, relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 42. Langsford, meanwhile, reportedly planned a 'divorce party' last month and has been seen without her wedding ring. She acknowledged the challenge of going through a divorce in the public eye, saying: 'Most don't do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion. But that's the nature of my job.'
Langsford, now a regular panellist on Loose Women and a presenter on QVC, said she has lost weight and is not seeking major new projects. 'People ask, 'What's next?' I go, 'What else do you want me to do?' Honestly, I'm not looking for more big projects,' she said. Holmes has described his health struggles as 'humiliating and humbling' but remains focused on his career with GB News.
