Dua Lipa 'Feeling Grateful' After Being Granted Kosovo Citizenship

Singer Dua Lipa has expressed gratitude after being awarded citizenship of Kosovo by the country's president, Vjosa Osmani. The 29-year-old, born in London to Kosovan-Albanian parents, received the honour at a ceremony in Pristina.

In an Instagram post, Lipa said she was 'feeling so grateful' for the citizenship. President Osmani shared a photo of the presentation, captioning it 'Welcome home Dua,' and praised Lipa as 'one of the most important cultural and artistic personalities in the history of our country.'

Lipa moved to Kosovo at age 11 after the country gained independence in 2008, returning to London at 15. She was welcomed at the ceremony by children singing her 2020 hit 'Levitating.'

The singer recently performed at the Sunny Hill festival in Kosovo, which she founded in 2018. She shared the stage with her father, Dukagjin Lipa, to sing the Albanian-language song 'Era.'

This follows her receiving Albanian citizenship in November 2022. Lipa has achieved four UK number one singles and two number one albums since her career began in 2013.
