Dr Chris Brown has candidly discussed his developing relationship with former television publicist Lorraine Monforte, acknowledging they are deliberately maintaining a private approach despite increasing public curiosity. The 47-year-old television veterinarian shared these personal insights in a recent interview with Stellar magazine, revealing their connection originated through professional circles many years ago.
A Friendship That Evolved Naturally
"Yeah, I'm in a relationship and really happy," Chris began. "The great thing with Lorraine is that she was a publicist for a TV network for 13 years. That's how we first became friends." He emphasized that their bond remained platonic for an extended period before evolving into romance. Brown highlighted how Monforte's extensive background in television has provided invaluable understanding of media dynamics, enabling them to navigate public attention with humor and perspective.
Navigating Media Speculation
The couple's relationship entered public consciousness after they were photographed together at the Australian Grand Prix in March. Brown, who has long been subject to speculation about his personal life, revealed he now approaches such rumors with lightheartedness. "Occasionally I'll run into the women I've supposedly been in a relationship with... we have a good laugh," he shared. "That's the only way you can deal with it... I could be rumoured to be in a relationship with someone one week, then separated the next."
He humorously added that the rapid-fire nature of celebrity gossip sometimes leaves him needing reminders from family members about his supposed romantic entanglements. This ability to maintain perspective forms the cornerstone of advice he offered to Robert Irwin, who succeeded him as host of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2023.
Guidance for the Next Generation
"I don't think he needs too much advice, to be honest," Brown said of Irwin. "We chatted when he first started the role. I was obviously very keen to wish him all the best with it, and really remind him of just how much of a fun show it is to work on." He noted that Irwin's lifelong exposure to television has prepared him well for the spotlight, having visited the set during Brown's tenure as host.
When addressing how to handle public scrutiny, Brown emphasized finding humor in challenging situations. This philosophy extends beyond personal relationships to his professional endeavors, including new projects with Channel Seven following his departure from Channel Ten after more than a decade on I'm A Celebrity...
New Professional Ventures and Adventures
Brown is currently fronting several Seven Network projects, including My Reno Rules, where he revealed the stakes are higher than they appear due to significant cash prizes. His upcoming wildlife series Once In A Lifetime takes Australian celebrities into extreme environments, with one particularly dangerous moment occurring in Colombia.
"On day one of shooting, Mick and I are getting charged by Pablo Escobar's cocaine hippos!" he recounted of filming with comedian Mick Molloy, describing an encounter with feral hippos descended from animals once owned by the notorious drug lord.
A Deliberately Private Partnership
Despite what industry insiders describe as an open secret, Brown and Monforte are consciously keeping their relationship out of the public eye. The couple splits their time between Sydney and Brisbane, maintaining a low-profile approach that aligns with their mutual understanding of media landscapes. Brown's reflections underscore a mature perspective on balancing personal happiness with public visibility, demonstrating how shared professional backgrounds can foster resilient partnerships in the spotlight.
