A Lifelong Dog Lover and an Iconic Role
John Barrowman is well-known as a devoted dog lover and advocate for rescue animals, having previously owned other dogs including Charlie and Harris. His connection to the name Captain Jack Harkness runs deep, stemming from his celebrated role in the BBC's Doctor Who universe.
The character Captain Jack Harkness first appeared in the 2005 Doctor Who episode The Empty Child, becoming a companion to the Doctor for the remainder of that series. The popularity of the character led to the adult-oriented spin-off series Torchwood, which ran from 2006 to 2011 with Barrowman at its centre. He later reprised the role in subsequent series of Doctor Who and specials including The End of Time and Revolution of the Daleks.
